Practice Support NETWORK
Townsville-Mackay Medicare Local (TMML) aims to support GPs, Practice
Managers, Practice staff and other health professionals working with
general practice. TMML aims to improve the quality of care provided to
patients by providing information and assistance on accreditation,
Enhanced Primary Car (EPC) and the use of MBS item numbers, Practice
incentive Payments (PIP), systems management, immunisation, specialised
health areas and business management resources.
TMML assigns a
Practice Liaison Officer (PLO) to each Practice in Townsville. The PLO
is responsible for providing practice staff information pertaining to
General Practice. If you would like to know who your PLO is, either view

Objectives
- Facilitate the advancement of general practice
- Provide all practice staff with education
- Provide all practice staff up-to-date and relevant information
- Outline eHealth initiatives
- Improve the efficiency and effectiveness of practice systems
- Promote illness prevention
- Create linkages between GPs, Specialists and Allied Health Professionals
- Tailor PLO visits to meet the specific needs of practices
- Access to Government initiatives
The practice support program aims to support GPs, practice managers,
practice staff and other health professionals working with general
practice to improve the quality of care provided to patients. This is
achieved through a variety of means including providing information and
assistance on accreditation, Enhanced Primary Care and use of the MBS
item numbers, PIP, systems management, immunisation, specialised health
areas, business management services and resources.
Staff can tailor visits to meet the specific needs of practices as they arise. TMML have established a practice nurse network and a practice manager network with both groups meeting regularly throughout the year. Contact us for further information.
